A gasket is a material placed between two objects under pressure to prevent leaking. Many types of gasket materials are available because this is a universal need in construction and industry. .Rubber Gaskets Many types of gaskets are made from rubber sheeting. Examples include neoprene, fluorocarbon, silicone, red rubber, aflas and nitrile. Viton Gaskets Viton is used for gasket cutting, door seals, flat seals and industrial uses. It is resistant of certain aromatic hydrocarbons, animal and vegetable oils, and strong acids and bases. PTFE Material This gasket material is used for many purposes. The virgin PTFE material is suitable for medical and electrical uses. Teflon is a brand name for PTFE. Graphite Gaskets Flexible graphite has a strong heat resistance. It is valuable because it can stand very acidic and alkaline conditions. EPDM Material This material is good for ozone exposure, weathering and UV rays. It is also resistant to animal and vegetable oils and many chemicals.
